Driving: France

3D terrain model was created for civilian driving simulators in rural France.

France, officially the French Republic, is a country whose territory consists of metropolitan France in Western Europe and several overseas regions and territories.

This generic, but purpose designed, 3D terrain model was created for civilian driving simulators.

It was modelled so as to include a range of countryside and village driving and was just a small section, designed to be integrated into a far larger area, created by the end customer.

It was supplied to us an old and poor resolution model, that ran at low frame rates (30hz). We upgraded it visually, adding more detail and modernising it to higher visual standards whilst restructuring it, adding better scene management and improving its run time frame rates (60hz plus). See the before and after images in the image gallery.

The model covers a relatively small area (16 sq km), having a prime surfaced road system of 20km in length.

The project was undertaken in conjunction with Thales Group, France.
