Description

This 3D Real-time scenario was modelled for use in a ship simulator to assist in training tug crews for the Thames Tideway Scheme.

It had all necessary river side buildings, bridges, vegetation, piers, landmarks, river craft and lighting required, between the area of Putney to the West and Woolwich to the East. Over 28km of river.

This was necessary as it was a major part of the Thames Tideway Scheme arrangement, that spoil would be removed by river to keep the thousands of lorries that would have been necessary, off London’s roads. However, there was a shortage of tug captains qualified to use the Thames which is a complex and busy river, so many more were to be trained first on a simulator to understand its tides, river flow, bridges, navigation points and other hazards.
